CASE STUDY - The Search For Rosa May

A Ground Penetrating Radar Investigation

Bodie State Historic Park is about 20 miles north of Mono Lake.

Our goal was to identify burial sites surrounding the old fenced cemetary.

You see, in the old days, only proper folks were buried in the cemetary. Everyone else was buried in the surrounding area.

The 600 by 900-foot area of interest was dense chapparel and rocky.

This made GPR data collection an arduous task since the control cable had to be suspended above the brush by the data-collection team.

Numerous targets of interest were identified outside of the cemetary proper.

We eventually found Rosa May's grave stone, but alas, not one was buried there.
